ARMENIAN VIRTUAL COLLEGE PROJECT

The Virtual College project is an Internet-based accredited distance learning program that aims to facilitate Armenian studies through new technologies.  With the latest advances in the world of electronic education, the Armenian Virtual College will create a virtual learning community that can foster both the cultural education and social connections otherwise out of the reach of most students across the Diaspora. Speaker Profile: Dr. Yervant Zorian is a newly elected Member of AGBU Central Board. He is the Vice President and Chief Scientist of Virage Logic Corp, a semiconductor technology firm headquartered in Silicon Valley , California . Prior to that, Dr. Zorian served as a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories and Chief Technical Advisor to LogicVision Inc.

A fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), he serves as the President of its Council on Test Technology and as the Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of the Journal on Design and Test of Computers. He has authored more than 300 scientific papers, four books and holds 20 US patents.

In 2005, Dr. Zorian was honored with the prestigious Industrial Pioneer Award. A lifelong AGBU volunteer, he currently chairs the AGBU Silicon Valley Chapter and is the founder and chairman of the AGBU Armenian Virtual College . He is also the Program Chair of ArmTech Congress and a Trustee of the American University of Armenia .

Dr. Zorian holds a Masters degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Southern California, a PhD in Electrical Engineering from McGill University, and an MBA from Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania; and is an honorary doctor of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.

He currently resides in Santa Clara , California .
