Annual Dinner Dance
May 9, 2009 was a very uplifting day for the members and friends of the AGBU Toronto as over 300 guests attended the AGBU and AGBU Zaroukian School annual dinner dance.
The Babayan ballroom of the Alex Manoogian Cultural Centre was beautifully decorated for the occasion.
Amongst the guests, present were Rev. Archpriest Fr. Zareh Zargarian, Pastor of Holy Trinity Armenian Church, Mr. Berge Papazian, Secretary of AGBU Central Board and President of Armen Ontario, AGBU Toronto former Chairs Hrant Bardakjian and Berts Zambaktsian, Hon, Mr. Sarkis Assadourian, former MP and Citizenship Judge, Mr. Alan Tonks Member of Parliament, York South-Weston, Hon. Bryon Wilfert Member of Parliament, Richmond Hill, AGBU Toronto Board Members, Zaroukian School staff and parents.
Haigo Derian, chair of the AGBU Toronto Young Professionals emceed the evening.
On this occasion, the Hon. Sarkis Assadourian was recognized as AGBU Toronto Man of the Year 2009 for his dedicated and committed services to Armenian causes. A special congratulatory letter sent from Mr. Berge Setrakian, President of AGBU Toronto was read. The Members of Parliament present praised Mr. Assadourian for his services and dedication to human rights. Mr. Alan Tonks, M.P. presented AGBU a congratulatory document, calling the Armenian General Benevolent Union “a pillar of the community”.
Armen Ontario and AGBU Toronto Committees as well as Zaroukian School staff all joined hands to cut the special ceremonial cake.
